It was a day for herbs, vintage goods and spices in West Palm’s funky alt-neighborhood.

The aromas of Christmas spices wafted throughout Will Davis’ vintage goods shop in Northwood Village on Saturday and the sounds of José Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad” confirmed the holiday vibe.
But on Small Business Saturday in this eclectic West Palm Beach district, the holiday spirit inside Davis’ Day by Day Shoppe carried an urgent wish — that the shop and its entrepreneurial neighbors survive the pandemic’s economic blows.
How’s it going?
“We could be better. Thank God we are not worse,” said Davis, who in addition to owning the shop on Northwood Road serves as president of the Northwood Village Merchants Association.
He admits that even in pre-pandemic times he would describe the long-emerging district always “being on life support.” This was strikingly true after the 2008 recession, he recalls.
